I received this from the NYCF and thought people may be interested. It's a great program...
The Chess Club conducted by the Belize National Youth Chess Foundation is back at the George Price Centre for Peace and Development! Every Tuesday and Wednesday from 4:00 till 5:30 p.m. children from the ages 8 to 14 are welcome to join in the fun of learning how to play chess. Instructions will be given at three levels: beginners (total beginners are welcome), intermediate and advanced. The Club will be limited to 30 students, so don't miss the boat! Registrations will take place on the first day of Club: Wednesday, October 1. Why chess? Chess helps children to become smarter and more focused; they learn how to concentrate on the task at hand and it gets them engaged in an exciting, intellectual activity that will exercise their brains. To read more on benefits of chess please visit the BNYCF website: www.belizechess.org ADULTS: If you are interested in helping to run the chess club, please be in touch with me. In the club, we do a variety of activities: reading, drawing, writing, math, singing, ... so just let me know what your strength or interest is and we will utilize your abilities.
